5 Ways to Bring Your Outdoors In
Who doesn’t love a view? That’s a rhetorical question because I don’t think there’s a person out there who would turn down a home with a beautiful view. Whether it’s the ocean, a lake, mountains, trees; homeowners are always looking for ways to take advantage of the natural beauty around them by making it a focal point in their everyday life. Especially here, in Prescott, we are so blessed to have a wide variety of views to enjoy. Why not embrace what you’ve got, right? Here are five ways to bring the outdoors in!
Add/Replace Windows
- This one seems obvious, however, adding or replacing windows with true intention behind it can make a massive impact. Windows need to be strategically placed for proper lighting and aesthetic purposes. Additionally, if you are adding a window that is specifically placed in order to take in a spectacular view, then you’ve just created living art.
- Contractors and other design professionals are trained to help you get the most out of your new window package. They can help you determine whether windows need to be moved for better lighting, more functional layouts, or to best take in those afore mentioned views. Furthermore, they can help you to decide what type of window is best for any given part of the home, e.g. picture window, bay window, skylight, cottage window, awning, arched, etc. They will also help you decide how large each window should be. Bigger windows are great for big views! There is a lot to consider when deciding to add or replace windows, it’s expensive, and it can become overwhelming. Luckily, there are professionals available to help you.
Add French, Sliding, or Bifold Doors
- Imagine a Saturday morning, drinking coffee, the warm breeze blowing through your new, gorgeous French patio doors. Sounds pretty great huh? Why not make it a reality? French, Sliding, and Bifold exterior doors are a fantastic way to create that natural indoor/outdoor living feel that you’ve been craving. Each of these door styles are different in their own ways, but they also share some fantastic attributes that make them the perfect option for bringing your outdoors in. First, they all allow for a view of the outdoors. Second, they all provide more natural light (you can’t have enough of that!). Lastly, they all grant easier access to outdoor living areas such as patios and decks. Plus, with all the available styles out there, you can pretty much bet that whatever dreamy door appeared to you during your Saturday morning coffee fantasy, does in fact exist. Hooray!
Build/Update a Deck or Patio
- Nothing screams outdoor living quite like a new/updated deck or patio. Plus, using exotic hardwoods or new composite decking materials now available means that your investment is going to last a very long time. Not to mention the curb appeal and selling potential you will be adding to your home. Once it’s finished, style it with a porch swing, an outdoor dining table, a comfy furniture set. Sit back, relax and enjoy the outdoors my friends!
Use Materials that Reflect Your Natural Surroundings
- Another way to create a home that gives you the feeling of being outdoors is to choose building materials and decorative touches that are reflective of your favorite views. Earthy color schemes, natural wood elements in flooring and cabinetry, tons of natural light, living walls, concrete/granite/or butcher block countertops, nature inspired patterns in wallpapers and accent pillows or blankets. Whatever view inspires you most can be the muse behind your design.
Create an Outdoor Room or Courtyard
- When the outdoor space is limited, and the budget isn’t a major a concern, adding or possibly repurposing an unused space into an outdoor room/courtyard may be just the ticket. It certainly adds a wow factor along with a purposeful, outdoor living area. Your guests and your future self would certainly thank you for it later.
So, what do you say? Let us help you bring your favorite views into your home!
